The past week has been tragic here in San Diego, many homes have been lost and hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated.  It makes you think about what is important and not important as you are deciding what to take from your home and what to leave.

Thankfully, most people followed the reverse 911 call to action and evacuated their homes and there was minimal loss of life.  Those who lost their homes will be dealing with the tragedy for many months to come.  Deciding whether to rebuild, to sell or repurchase a new home and looking for a place to rent in the interim. The rest of us will be back at their normal lives in the next few days.

If you are currently selling a home in San Diego County, you will have about 2 weeks of down time waiting for buyers to get back into the market.  You need to be aggressive in your marketing strategies to get your home sold after this tragedy and price your home so it will sell.  Buyers are still in the drivers seat.  Approximately 1200-1300 homes have been lost.  This represents less than 1/3rd of 1% of all the homes in San Diego County and less than 10% of the homes that were on the market prior to the fires.

If you are thinking of buying, you shouldn’t stop looking for that home that meets your needs. The holidays are coming and woulnd’t it be great to be in your new home before then.
